ST. LOUIS — Democratic nominee Hillary gloated about Donald Trump’s campaign stumbles during the presidential debate Sunday, as the two candidates engaged in a series of testy exchanges.

Mrs. Clinton, the Democratic nominee, said that her Republican rival was pressing her about her secret email setup as secretary of state as a diversionary tactic.

“Okay, Donald, I know you’re into big diversion tonight, anything to avoid talking about your campaign and the way it’s exploding and the way Republicans are leaving you,” said Mrs. Clinton.

Dozens of Republican leaders have abandon Mr. Trump after a 2005 video surfaced Fridayin which the New York billionaire made vulgar remarks about trying to seduce women and how his celebrity status give him license to kiss women and fondle them.

The debate was Mr. Trump’s opportunity to steady his campaign and he aggressively confronted Mrs. Clinton of a range of issues, such as her email and her decisions as secretary of state that contributed to instability in the Middle East.
