SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport has made interim chancellor G.E. Ghali the center’s permanent chancellor.
The university announced its choice Friday. Ghali had been interim chancellor since February.
The Times reports (https://bit.ly/2dVu5la ) LSU President F. King Alexander also named Ghali dean of the school of medicine.
Ghali has guided LSU during the most trying financial times in its history. Last summer he engineered agreements with Willis-Knighton in Shreveport, Christus Health in Shreveport and Alexandria, St. Francis in Monroe and Rapides Regional in Alexandria to collaborate on future partnerships the university hopes will shore up its standing.
LSU, the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana and the state also agreed on a new contract to operate its Shreveport and Monroe hospitals.
