CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Unemployment claims in Wyoming were down for the first time since December 2014 because layoffs in the energy sector are declining.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the largest decrease in monthly claims in September was in the mining industry, where claims were down 64 percent from the same time last year.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/jk7646t ) an increase in oil prices is helping to stabilize the labor market.
Campbell, Natrona and Fremont counties reported increases in new unemployment claims. Carbon, Johnson and Laramie counties reported decreases.
