SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A Sioux City man has been found guilty of attempted murder and other counts in the shooting of a police officer.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2d2lnuV ) that a Woodbury County jury found 19-year-old Isaiah Mothershed guilty Friday of two counts of attempted murder and four counts of first-degree robbery.

Authorities say Mothershed pulled a gun from a couch while his hands were handcuffed behind his back and shot Officer Ryan Moritz in a leg while being arrested Feb. 7. Police say that as officers struggled with Mothershed, the gun fired again, wounding Mothershed in a leg. Both have since recovered.

Prosecutors also presented evidence that Mothershed carried out several robberies and break-ins and fired a shot at a homeowner who interrupted a break-in.

Mothershed’s sentencing date is pending.
