NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees are bringing back Larry Rothschild for his seventh season as pitching coach.

The Yankees said Friday that Rothschild has a one-year contract for 2017. On Wednesday, general manager Brian Cashman said working out a deal with Rothschild was on his to-do list.

The 62-year-old Rothschild will be entering his 43rd season in pro ball as a player, coach or manager. He pitched seven games for Detroit in 1981-82.

New York set a single-season team record with 1,393 strikeouts this year. The Yankees went 84-78 and missed the playoffs.
