Netflix CEO and co-founder Reed Hastings said Friday that a Donald Trump presidency would be devastating for America.

The TV chief made the comment onstage at The New Yorker TechFest, a conference of tech leaders hosted by The New Yorker magazine, ABC News reported.

The New Yorker’s David Remnick had asked Mr. Hastings how Mr. Trump winning the presidency might influence the economy.

“It’s so bad for America if he wins, it’s secondary for the economy,” Mr. Hastings responded.

The Netflix CEO came out in support of Hillary Clinton in June, alongside dozens of other prominent business leaders. He and his wife, Patricia Quillin, are also included on Mrs. Clinton’s list of “Hillblazers,” or individuals who have raised at least $100,000 for her campaign, ABC News reported.

“Trump would destroy much of what is great about America,” Mr. Hastings said in a statement in June. “Hillary Clinton is the strong leader we need, and it’s important that Trump lose by a landslide to reject what he stands for.”

His wide-ranging interview with Mr. Remnick touched on topics about the movie industry and the growing business of internet streaming. Mr. Hastings said the possibility of Netflix expanding to China “doesn’t look good,” so they’re focusing more on opportunities in India, Poland, Turkey, Vietnam and Latin America.
