NEW HAVEN, Vt. (AP) - The Select Board in the Vermont town of New Haven has given a key approval for a project to bring wind power from northern New York and hydro power from Canada to New England.

Anbaric Transmission of Wakefield, Massachusetts, wants to build a 60-mle power line from near Plattsburg, New York, to the Vermont town. There it would hook into a major high-tension power line connected to the New England grid.

It would bring wind power from New York and hydro-power from Canada destined for southern New England markets.

The New Haven agreement involves payments to the town, commitments to sound limits by the company and provisions for abutters to the converter station.
