MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Republican leader of the Wisconsin state Senate says the fact that Donald Trump is returning to campaign in the state Saturday shows he thinks he can win it.

Trump has never led in public polling by the Marquette University Law School, but surveys have shown the race to be tightening to within the margin of error.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said in a conference call Thursday that he thinks Republicans who voted against Trump in Wisconsin’s primary will come home for him next month.

Fitzgerald says he also doesn’t think young voters who helped Bernie Sanders defeat Hillary Clinton in the primary will vote for her.

Trump is scheduled to campaign with House Speaker Paul Ryan, Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ron Johnson on Saturday in Elkhorn.
