MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - The Meridian Regional Airport has a new contract with American Airlines.

The Meridian Star reports (https://bit.ly/2dwXQp7) American, through its affiliations with Skywest and ExpressJet, has again been awarded the contract by the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide commercial air service between Meridian and Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Airport President Tom Williams says the changes in the contract will ensure improved service for passengers.

The new service, effective Nov. 4, will include all non-stop flights between Meridian and Dallas-Ft. Worth, eliminating the stop in Hattiesburg on the afternoon flight. In addition, the last evening flight inbound to Meridian will leave Dallas-Ft. Worth at 8:20 p.m. instead of 6:45 p.m., under the current schedule.

Meridian Regional saw 16,296 passengers fly out of the facility last year.
