Rep. Tim Ryan told a small crowd of labor workers in Ohio on Wednesday that Donald Trump would walk over their “cold,” “dead” bodies for his own interests.
The Ohio Democrat spoke at rally in Youngstown with former President Bill Clinton, who was campaigning on his wife’s behalf.
“That’s what is at stake, and I don’t mean to be graphic, but this guy to our friends in the trades — to our steelworkers who he’s been treating unfairly, very unfairly — he will, he will gut you and he will walk over your cold dead body and he won’t even flinch,” Mr. Ryan said of Mr. Trump as he introduced the former president at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66, BuzzFeed reported.
“He’ll climb over your cold dead body and get on his helicopter, right?” he added. “I don’t mean to be dramatic, but that’s what’s at stake.”
Mr. Ryan said the way the real estate mogul treated construction workers “makes you sick,” The Hill reported.
“That is not how you treat people,” he said. “He has screwed more workers and more people through the course of his business dealings that he has almost 4,000 lawsuits against him.”
Mr. Clinton later praised Mr. Ryan for his speech and described him as having “a good mind and a good heart.”
“I think we ought to give Tim Ryan another hand,” he said.
The former president is in Ohio as part of a two-day bus tour across the state.
