TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A north Mississippi hospital system serving 24 counties in Mississippi and Alabama says it plans to drop contracts with UnitedHealthcare because the company has failed to pay anything on claims which it didn’t deny.
The insurance company says it has been unable to get any information about those claims from North Mississippi Health Services.
Health services president and CEO Shane Spees tells The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/2e2h9sn ) that a system employee noticed a number of claims for which UnitedHealthcare hadn’t paid anything, without denying the claims. He says that such claims appear to go back several years.
Spokesman Daryl Richard tells The Associated Press that UnitedHealthcare has tried repeatedly to get information about the claims, and the hospital system refused its offer to have an independent third party review the data.
