NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man accused of multiple charges stemming from two carjackings, a police chase and eight-car crash earlier this year has been found incompetent to stand trial for now.
Police say the 32-year-old Jonathan Calvin, of Nashua, carjacked the vehicles, stabbed a woman and led police on a chase into Massachusetts and back in April.
The Telegraph of Nashua reports (https://bit.ly/2d2PwOf) he was recently referred for admission to the state Secure Psychiatric Unit after Judge Amy Ignatius ruled him currently incompetent, but that he could improve with mental health treatment.
A state forensic examiner had described Calvin as “a danger to himself and others,” but that he could be competent following a year of appropriate treatment.
Calvin’s brother had said he’s been battling mental illness for years.
