MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Russ Feingold is urging young people at a Bernie Sanders rally to vote for Hillary Clinton to stop “right-wingers” from controlling the U.S. Supreme Court for a generation.
Feingold spoke at Sanders’ rally in downtown Madison on Wednesday. Clinton has dispatched Sanders to a number of Midwest states to encourage early voting, particularly with millennials.
The 63-year-old Feingold thanked millennials for their activism, but warned all they are fighting for could be lost with a Donald Trump victory. Feingold says if Trump wins and Republicans control the Senate they will appoint a “38-year-old Clarence Thomas” who will be there until college students now are 60 or 70 years old.
He says voters need to repudiate Trump, who Feingold says is “unqualified to be president and wants to divide America.”
