ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A convicted felon who led police in North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina on a chase after refusing to pull over for speeding has been sentenced to nearly six years in jail.

Federal prosecutors said 32-year-old Mark Stone pleaded guilty in February to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was ordered to spend 71 months in jail Wednesday.

Authorities say officers in Macon County, North Carolina, tried to pull over Stone in June 2015. The chase reached 100 mph in Highlands, North Carolina, before continuing into Georgia and South Carolina.

Investigators say the Rabun, Georgia, man ran out of gas in Oconee County. A loaded .22-caliber rifle was found in his vehicle.

Prosecutors say Stone had felony convictions for burglary and aggravated assault.
