TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Traverse City commissioners have approved a roughly $462,000 project to rebuild a parking lot and boat ramp along the Boardman River.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/2dF83h0 ) the reconstruction approved Monday also includes installing an accessible kayak and canoe launch and adding stormwater filtration. Commissioners had rejected the project two weeks ago, citing the cost and other factors.

City Manager Marty Colburn says plans were modified from the ones that were rejected to add more green space. Colburn says: “It’s a little bit more of a user-friendly design, not only in terms of walking but being able to use the bench area and being in a natural setting.”
