WRENTHAM, Mass. (AP) - A motorcyclist accused of striking and seriously injuring a Massachusetts State Police trooper who was working a traffic detail after a New England Patriots game has pleaded not guilty.

Twenty-five-year-old Jose Perez-Rodriguez entered the plea Monday in Wrentham to charges including assault and battery on a police officer. He remains held without bail.

Authorities say Capt. Christopher Wilcox was hit in a parking lot near Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sunday. He was hospitalized for “blunt force” injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

State police spokesman Dave Procopio says Perez-Rodriguez was fleeing troopers who tried to stop him when he drove his 2009 Ducati against traffic and entered a parking lot where he struck the trooper.

Perez-Rodriguez’s attorney says his client didn’t intend to hit the trooper.
