The Republican National Committee already has declared who won the vice presidential debate — more than an hour before the scheduled start.
While it’s no surprise that the GOP would say Mike Pence was the winner, it’s customary to wait until after the debate is over — or at least has started.
Especially odd were the citations on the RNC website of specific reasons and moments why Mr. Pence had “won” over Democrat Tim Kaine.
“The consensus was clear after the dust settled,” the RNC said before a word was spoken by either man, going on to list “Mike Pence’s top moments from the debate.”
Potentially tipping the party’s hand on where strategists want Mr. Pence to concentrate, the RNC listed two reasons: “Economy [and] Highlighting Hillary’s scandals.”
The RNC page was quickly taken down, but ABC News screen-grabbed it.
