BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A former Vermont corrections officer is being accused of sexually exploiting two inmates at a South Burlington jail just months after he was acquitted in a similar case.

The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/2cZ8vZV ) reports 30-year-old William Savaria III recently pleaded not guilty to new charges of sexual exploitation of confined inmates. He was released on conditions he have no contact with the alleged victims.

Prosecutors say Savaria, of Fairfax, sexually exploited the inmates at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility. One accuser says Savaria made sexual comments toward her in 2013. Another woman alleges she was sexually assaulted by Savaria in 2014.

Savaria resigned in 2015. He was acquitted in March of charges he had a sexual relationship with a female inmate.

Attempts to contact Savaria’s lawyer were unsuccessful.
