Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw the ball 56 times on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals in London, the most times he threw the ball in a single game at any point in his entire career.
That, on top of his 458 passing yards, helped Cousins complete his most productive day as a quarterback this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
Cousins received a score of 78.0, by far his highest score of the season.
It’s still not incredibly high, but it’s primarily because Cousins received a decent amount of help from total yards after the catch. PFF also noted that Cousins completed eight passes over 10 yards in the air, encouraging because Cousins has struggled a good bit on the downfield passes this season. And, after all, Cousins did throw one interception.
Cousins’ Cincinnati counterpart, Andy Dalton, received a score of just 43.3.
Cousins also set or tied several Redskins’ single-game franchise records. His 38 competitions set a new franchise high, passing the mark he and Jason Campbell previously held at 33. His most recent 400 yard game, giving him two in his career with the Redskins, tied him with Mark Rypien and Sonny Jorgensen for the highest total in Redskins’ history.
Another fun fact? Cousins’ 38 completions on 56 attempts set the highest totals Wembley Stadium, normally a soccer stadium, has ever seen. And, considering only a few games are played at Wembley each year, that mark may stand for a long time.
