OPINION:
WikiLeaks revealed another email from Democratic Party Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile to Hillary Clinton’s camp, which apparently shows Ms. Brazile tipping off the Clinton team on a CNN debate question.
In an email dated March 5, 2016, and released Monday, Ms. Brazile sent a note to Mrs. Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta, titled: “One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash.”
In the body of the email, Ms. Brazile wrote: “Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the [people] of Flint.
“Folks, I did a service project today. It’s so tragic. And what’s worse, some homes have not been tested and it’s important to encourage seniors to also get tested,” she wrote.
The following day, during a Democratic primary debate in Flint, Michigan, a participant, Lee-Anne Walters, asked about the city’s water contamination.
“After my family, the city of Flint and the children in D.C. were poisoned by lead, will you make a personal promise to me right now that, as president, in your first 100 days in office, you will make it a requirement that all public water systems must remove all lead service lines throughout the entire United States, and notification made to the — the citizens that have said service lines,” Ms. Walters asked Mrs. Clinton.
Ms. Brazile, who was a CNN and ABC political contributor before she became head of the DNC, has denied previous allegations she fed debate questions to Mrs. Clinton. A prior WikiLeaks email showed Ms. Brazile tipping off the Clinton camp on a potential town hall question.
CNN officially cut ties with Ms. Brazile on Monday.
“From time to time I get the questions in advance,” Ms. Brazile wrote in a March 12 email to Clinton’s communications director, Jennifer Palmieri.
Ms. Brazile, who was a CNN contributor at the time of the email, then asked Ms. Palmieri about Mrs. Clinton’s position on the death penalty.
“Here’s one that worries me about HRC,” wrote Brazile in the email.
Ms. Brazile, in an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly said she felt “persecuted” by the allegations she would tip off the Clinton campaign and that the WikiLeaks emails were stolen and Ms. Kelly was a “thief” for bringing them up.
“Podesta’s emails were stolen. You’re like the thief that wants to bring into the night what you found in the gutter,” Ms. Brazile said.
“I am not going to try to validate falsified information,” Ms. Brazile continued. “I have my documents, I have my files.
“I never got documents from CNN,” she reiterated, adding that “a lot of those emails I would not give them the time of the day. I’ve seen so many doctored emails. I’ve seen things that come from me at two in the morning that I don’t even send.”
According to a report from AdWeek, CNN issued the following statement on Monday: “On October 14th, CNN accepted Donna Brazile’s resignation as a CNN contributor. CNN never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate. We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor.
