SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. (AP) - A contemporary estate has sold for $6.875 million, the highest amount for a single-family home in the Tampa Bay area in three years.

The Tampa Bay Times reports (https://bit.ly/2dPHpqg ) the transaction that closed Friday is the second-priciest this year for any type of residence.

The 9,365-square-foot Safety Harbor home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms. It was built in 2002 on 10 waterfront acres.

The buyer hasn’t been publicly identified. The sellers were Kung-Ti Yen and his wife, who bought the site in 1998 for $750,000. Florida corporate records show Kung-Ti Yen has been associated with the Big Easy Cajun chain of restaurants.

The sale of the Safety Harbor property was exceeded only by the $6.9 million paid in May for a penthouse in St. Petersburg’s Ovation condo tower.
