MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The group working to elect Republicans in the Senate has canceled its remaining television ad reservations for Sen. Ron Johnson in Wisconsin.
National Republican Senatorial Committee spokeswoman Andrea Bozek says the group is sticking with a six-figure coordinated ad buy starting next week for Johnson in Wisconsin. But Bozek confirmed that dropping its remaining reservations will free up $800,000 to spend on other races.
Johnson faces Democrat Russ Feingold.
Bozek says the NRSC is “confident” Johnson “will have the necessary resources to highlight” differences between him and Feingold.
Johnson’s campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger says “This race remains as tight as ever, and Senator Feingold has wasted millions of dollars on misleading ads with nothing to show for it.”
