CONROE, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a shootout between robbery suspects and employees at a Conroe jewelry store left one suspect dead.

Conroe Police Lt. Dorcy McGinnis tells The Courier in Conroe (https://bit.ly/2dF2xjz ) that four men dressed in black entered the store Monday afternoon and demanded jewelry, purses and other items. They opened fire on store employees and customers, with at least three store workers firing back.

McGinnis says, “There was a lot of gunfire.”

The other three robbery suspects fled. The employees and customers weren’t harmed.

Windows were broken out of the store, and police set up barriers around the crime scene.
