SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane father has been arrested and charged after his 2-month-old daughter was hospitalized with injuries in August.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://bit.ly/2fqRw5o) that 20-year-old Sebastian Smith appeared in Spokane County Superior Court Friday to face two counts of first-degree child assault.

According to court documents, Smith reportedly told police of several times he abused his daughter, Sequoia.

Court documents show the baby was found with injuries throughout her body after police were called the home Aug. 28. They found the child not breathing and brought her to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she remains hospitalized.

Medical experts told officials they believe the girl will likely suffer from seizures and developmental delays as a result of her injuries.

Smith is being held in Spokane County Jail on $100,000 bond.
