FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The city of Flint is threatening to cut off water if commercial users don’t pay their bills.
Flint says nearly $1 million is owed by 13 customers, mostly apartment owners. The Flint Journal (https://bit.ly/2f32sSf ) says the city needs a 70 percent collection rate to qualify for $30 million in aid from the state.
Mayor Karen Weaver says people living in apartments have already paid their landlords. She says that money needs to be paid to the city.
Flint residents are urged to use bottled water or filtered tap water while the water system heals from lead contamination. Water from the Flint River wasn’t properly treated to reduce corrosion in 2014 and 2015.
