TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona authorities are looking for information about the killing of a hawk in the Tucson area that marks the third killing in two months.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department says the hawk was discovered in Catalina on Sunday. It is offering $250 for information that leads to an arrest.
The department says there have been three hawk killings, including one that was killed by a dart, in the past two months. The hawk that was most recently found was shot in the head.
The two other hawks were found dead on Sept. 7 near Picture Rocks and on Sept. 28 at Purple Heart Park in Tucson’s far east side.
Killing a hawk is punishable by up to a $750 fine and six months in jail.
