JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court has denied a move by the Hinds County Board of Supervisors to remove Circuit Judge Jeff Weill from presiding over three cases.
The Clarion-Ledger reports (https://on.thec-l.com/2dPoPhP ) Chief Justice William Waller filed the order denying the board’s request to review Weill’s decision not to recuse himself from the cases. The cases involved Weill ordering the county to pay for private attorneys for indigent defendants during a dispute with the public defender’s office.
The Board of Supervisors filed a motion with the state Supreme Court in August asking for a review of Weill’s refusal to recuse himself from those cases.
