DENVER (AP) - The Denver Comic Con is banning prop guns at next year’s event.
The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/2eWMxVo ) that organizers said in a statement Thursday that no realistic costume weapons will be allowed. The Comic Con says the change will make it easier for police and security to identify threats and keep attendees safe.
Organizers acknowledged the new rules will “impact some popular costumers,” but they say other props such as plastic bats, swords and shields will still be allowed.
More than 100,000 people attended this year’s Denver Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center in June.
