Justice is blind and so, apparently, is Bill Cosby, who has obtained legal certification of the impairment from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The comedian’s attorneys are arguing in a Pennsylvania court that the malady is an impediment to the elderly entertainer’s right to defend himself from sexual assault allegations, NBC News reported Friday.

“No 79-year-old blind man could possibly defend himself against a claim that he sexually assaulted someone he supposedly met once, half a century ago,” they complained in a court document filed Thursday, NBC News said.

However “Pennsylvania prosecutors say Cosby’s vision doesn’t mean he can’t assist in his defense,” NBC News said.

A Keystone State judge in May ruled there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial against Mr. Cosby. He faces three charges of felony aggravated indecent assault stemming from an alleged incident from 2004 involving a Temple University employee, CNN reported at the time.
