Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser Roger Stone reportedly has plans to write a book about this year’s presidential race despite signing a non-disclosure agreement.
“My lawyers believe the nondisclosure agreement I signed is unenforceable,” Mr. Stone told The New York Post in an interview published Thursday. “And in any case, I’m not going to write a book trashing Trump.”
Mr. Stone — who served as a political consultant to former President Richard M. Nixon, and whose face is reportedly tattooed on his back — said the book will target Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the media who protected her.
“They brought [Nixon] down,” Mr. Stone told The Post. “But in Hillary’s case, they suppress or ignore her wrongdoings. It’s the exact opposite of the Nixon era.”
The New York Times bestselling author said Mr. Trump “can definitely still win,” despite Mrs. Clinton leading the Republican nominee by more than 5 percentage points in Real Clear Politics’ latest average of national polls.
Even so, Mr. Stone “can’t wait for this election to be over,” he told The Post.
“I’m exhausted,” he said.
Mr. Stone, who left the Trump campaign in August of last year, floated the book idea earlier this month in an interview with The Daily Caller.
“The story of [Mr. Trump’s] nomination is in itself an extraordinary story,” he said. “I can’t write the story of the general election yet because it’s not over and we don’t know how it turns out.”
