BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer in northern Oklahoma fatally shot a man while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 36-year-old William Clifford Cole was shot Wednesday after officers arrived to find Cole attacking a woman outside a home in Bartlesville, about 125 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. The OSBI says Cole then attacked the officer who eventually shot him.
Cole was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The officer’s name was not released.
The OSBI says both the officer and the woman were taken to a hospital.
Bartlesville Police Capt. Jay Hastings has said an officer was treated for wounds to his face. The woman’s condition was not released.
