HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Hattiesburg Public School District Board of Trustees is set to vote on one of three options regarding the district’s search for a superintendent.

Board President Marcus Cathey tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/2eeezMh) the board is meeting for a work session at 3 p.m. Thursday and a special-called meeting at 5 p.m.

Cathey said the purpose of the two meetings is to determine the direction the board will take regarding the hiring of a permanent superintendent. Robert Williams was hired as interim superintendent in July following Janice Johnson’s resignation.

Cathey says the board will consider three options:

-Re-evaluate all candidates who applied during the most recent superintendent search, which resulted in Johnson’s hiring.

-Start a new superintendent search naming a person by end of the 2016-17 school year.

-Name Williams the permanent superintendent.
