ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a teenage DeKalb County mother admitted to a police officer that she suffocated her 5-month-old daughter with a pillow.
Citing a warrant released Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2edoSjH ) reports that 18-year-old Estefania Roman-Aguilar asked to speak with Brookhaven police a month after the infant died Sept. 21 at an apartment complex.
The warrant says the medical examiner’s report isn’t complete and a cause of death has not yet been determined. The warrant does not give a motive for why the mother would kill the child.
The mother is charged with child cruelty and remains in the county jail without bond. It is unclear whether Roman-Aguilar has an attorney.
