CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire woman has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a 2014 crash that left a retired teacher dead.
Twenty-five-year-old Jordan Heath entered the plea Tuesday to a charge of vehicular assault in the crash that killed 66-year-old Michael Phelps in Allenstown.
The Concord woman was given a suspended one-year sentence, two years probation and her license was revoked for five years.
Authorities say Phelps was traveling east on a motorcycle in June 2014 when his bike collided with Heath’s vehicle after the car blew a red light. The retired Concord teacher died at the hospital.
Heath admitted to texting at the time of the crash as part of the plea deal.
She apologized to Phelps’ family in court.
