JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin is asking Wyoming voters to choose a true conservative.
The former CIA operative visited Jackson on Monday calling on supporters to consider another alternative to Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat Hilary Clinton.
McMullin criticized Trump for lacking conservative principles and wanting to expand the size of the federal government.
McMullin announced his candidacy on Aug. 8 and according to a recent Emerson College poll, he is leading in his home state of Utah. While he failed to qualify for the Wyoming ballot, he has write-in status.
McMullin says he can make it to the White House if he wins at least one state and Clinton and Trump both fail to reach 270 electoral votes. The House of Representatives would select a president from among the candidates.
