DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke freshman Jayson Tatum is being evaluated by the team’s medical staff after injuring his lower leg during practice.

Team spokesman Cory Walton confirmed Tatum was hurt Tuesday, during the second of the program’s two pro days, but did not have any further details, including which leg was injured.

The Blue Devils were voted No. 1 in the coaches’ preseason Top 25 - The Associated Press’ poll will be released Oct. 31 - on the strength of a strong core of returning players and a six-man freshman class of which Tatum is a key member.

Tatum, a 6-foot-8 forward rated as a top-five recruit by four evaluation services, led all scorers with 18 points during the team’s public intrasquad scrimmage last week.
