HARBESON, Del. (AP) - A Harbeson man has received worldwide support online after his neighbors sued him over a customized car workshop in his garage.

The News Journal of Wilmington (https://delonline.us/2eBKtHB ) reports that Charles Williams has received about $56,000 from supporters via GoFundMe to help pay for his legal expenses.

Court documents state that Williams’ neighbors have accused him of violating county regulations by running a commercial business at his workshop.

Williams says that he and friends use the workshop to work on cars, but he doesn’t accept money.

Williams says he has already spent $27,000 in legal fees and says his neighbors plan to take their case to the state supreme court.

An attorney representing his neighbors didn’t respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.
