PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Supreme Court is considering changes to some procedures ahead of gaining two new justices next year.
The Arizona Capitol Times reports (https://bit.ly/2f9xwnE ) that Chief Justice Scott Bales says the court is considering changes such as increasing the number of justices required to accept a case for review and reducing the time attorneys are allowed to argue.
Gov. Doug Ducey is currently considering seven nominees for two newly created Supreme Court seats. Ducey has until November 29 to make his selection.
The courts expansion was put into law by the 2016 Arizona Legislature and is expected to be completed by early 2017.
Bales says whatever the changes the court makes after the expansion, he expects more opinions will be issued.
