LAUREL, Del. (AP) - An 18-year-old Delmar man is accused of pulling a knife on state troopers.

Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier tell The News Journal of Wilmington (https://delonline.us/2f8aNIm) that Saa’diq A. Holmes was arrested on several charges including striking a trooper and drug possession, following Thursday night’s incident near Laurel.

Officials say troopers spotted Holmes walking without an illumination device and requested to perform a pat-down search.

Fournier says that’s when Holmes pulled out a large steak knife from his waistband, pointing it at troopers. A trooper grabbed the knife, disarming Holmes. During the search, officials say Holmes managed to run away, throwing bags of heroin onto the ground.

He was eventually taken into custody after troopers used a stun gun on him.

It’s unclear if Holmes has an attorney.
