GUATEMALA CITY (AP) - Guatemalan police say they have arrested a U.S. man wanted by the FBI for the 2008 murder of a woman in California.

National Civil Police spokesman Jorge Aguilar says 38-year-old Edward Lee Leblanc was detained in Cuyotenango, a rural town about 100 miles (170 kilometers) west of Guatemala City.

According to the FBI, Leblanc is suspected of stabbing the woman to death “after an argument” and then driving her body into the desert, burning and burying it.

He has been charged with murder in Riverside County, California, and with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Aguilar said Monday that Leblanc would be brought to the capital and handed over to migration authorities for deportation.

The FBI had offered a reward of $20,000 for information leading to his capture.
