New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning brushed aside post-game questions about his barking “Trump! Trump! Trump” at the line of scrimmage in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams, telling reporters he was saying something that only sounded like the Republican presidential nominee’s name.
That labored explanation left some observers wondering if Manning, with his lucrative endorsement deals, was beating a strategic retreat from any connection — even an innocuous one — to a presidential race that has split the nation.
No such concerns, of course, for Tom Brady.
Brady, who has made no attempt to hide his admiration for Donald Trump, told radio listeners in New England on Monday that he has pre-snap signals that utilize the names of both candidates.
“Trump and Clinton,” Brady said during an appearance on Boston’s WEEI-FM on Monday. “We have two calls.”
Brady hasn’t endorsed Trump, but has said he thinks a Trump presidency would be “great.”
