MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Labor officials say Vermont’s unemployment rate remained at 3.3 percent in September, unchanged from August.

The national jobless rate was 5 percent last month, a slight increase from August.

Vermont’s Labor commissioner says preliminary data for the first three quarters of 2016 show a stable economy in Vermont and a continuation of the positive economic growth seen in 2015. She says the state’s business leaders are interested in growing their operations and workforce and that this is an excellent time for people to be applying for jobs.

Around the state, the unemployment rate ranged from a low of 2.9 percent in White River Junction and Burlington-South Burlington to a high of 4.9 percent in Derby.
