LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California has suspended defensive end Jabari Ruffin indefinitely due to an unspecified student conduct issue.

Coach Clay Helton announced the senior’s suspension Sunday.

Helton wouldn’t provide details about the nature of the violation. The coach added: “Don’t have a crystal ball on if and when he could return.”

Ruffin is from nearby Downey. He has played in six games this season, making two tackles with one tackle for loss.

Ruffin was ejected for stomping on Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick during the Crimson Tide’s 52-6 win over the Trojans in the season opener. He was suspended by Helton for the first half of the Trojans’ next game against Utah State.

USC (4-3, 3-2 Pac-12) has won three straight heading into California’s visit to the Coliseum on Thursday night.
