MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - Rylan Wells had 165 yards passing with two touchdowns and Jacksonville outlasted Morehead State 61-49 on Saturday.
Jacksonville (3-3, 2-1 Pioneer League) piled up 598 yards of offense, while the Eagles gained 582 yards. Jacksonville had four players rush for touchdowns. Jared Morris finished with 93 yards on 19 carries, Jake Brito gained 88 yards on 10 carries and Pernell Rattray busted a 45-yard touchdown run.
Morehead State (2-6, 1-4) was led by freshman Trevor Jones, who carried 24 times for 284 yards with four touchdowns, setting a school single-game rushing yardage record. Jones scored on a 61-yard run and also had an 83-yard carry.
Morehead State led 35-31 at intermission. Early in the third, Prince Gray returned a punt 70 yards for a TD and Grady Redding added a 23-yard interception return for a score to give Jacksonville a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
