ROCKY HILL, Conn. (AP) - The first and only debate between Connecticut’s two candidates for the U.S. Senate will be televised live.
Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Republican challenger Dan Carter, a Bethel state representative, will appear on WFSB’s Face the State public affairs program on Sunday. The debate will air live at 11 a.m.
This year’s race has been low-key. The well-known Blumenthal, who is seeking re-election to a second six-year term, has raised much more money than Carter and has been running a series of TV ads.
As of September 30, Blumenthal had $4.7 million in cash on hand while Carter had $35,014.
While Blumenthal touts his record on women’s issues and gun control, Carter has accused Blumenthal of “making a lot of noise” about issues that matter to him, not the voters.
