COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has finished removing downed trees and debris from the state’s roads after Hurricane Matthew.
The agency said in a new release Friday morning that workers are now focusing on repair work.
The agency said 68 roads and 16 bridges are still closed because of the storm. Nearly 1,200 employees are working on storm repair.
Crews are also working to replace signs that were damaged or destroyed by the storm earlier this month.
Inspectors are continuing to look at bridges to make sure that they are safe. The moveable bridge at Socastee over the Waccamaw River in Horry County is still closed to boat traffic.
