SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green will miss three weeks after straining his left quadriceps.

Green initially suffered the injury during training camp and aggravated it Tuesday during the team’s annual intra-squad scrimmage.

Green averaged 3.5 points in four preseason games while shooting 20 percent from 3-point range. The eight-year veteran averaged 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds last season while shooting 33 percent on 3s, his lowest percentage in six seasons with the Spurs.

The Spurs started 6-foot-9 Kyle Anderson in Green’s place Friday night against Houston in their final preseason game. Anderson, whose fourth-year option was picked up by the team Friday afternoon, is the team’s reserve small forward.

Reserve shooting guard Jonathon Simmons has a bruised right quadriceps, but is expected to play in San Antonio’s season opener Tuesday at Golden State.
