Media mogul Oprah Winfrey made an unconventional pitch for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign during a recent interview by telling a crowd, “You don’t have to like her.”
An episode of “T.D. Jakes Show” set to air Oct. 27 on Ms. Winfrey’s OWN television network shows the billionaire trying to convince an audience to vote. Mr. Jakes, pastor of a Dallas megachurch, bursts into laughter at one point during Ms. Winfrey’s pitch for the Democrat presidential hopeful.
“I hear this all the time,” Ms. Winfrey said, Politico reported Friday. “You get into conversations — and there’s not a person in this room who hasn’t been in this same conversation — where people say, ’I just don’t know if I like her.’ She’s not coming over to your house! You don’t have to like her. You don’t have to like her. Do you like this country?”
The billionaire then told Mr. Jakes’ audience that everyone “better get out there and vote” to prevent Republican “demagogue” Donald Trump from winning the Nov. 8 presidential election .
Ms. Winfrey said that up until now she has not been a vocal supporter of the former secretary of state because she was unsure how to convince others through the “noise and the chaos” of the political season.
