BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Barcelona defenders Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba will be sidelined for a few weeks because of injuries sustained in the Champions League match against Manchester City.
The Catalan club said Thursday that Pique will be out for about three weeks because of sprained ligaments in his right ankle. The Spain defender had to be replaced in the 39th minute of Barcelona’s 4-0 win at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Alba was substituted less than 10 minutes into the game because of a strained left hamstring and will be sidelined for two weeks.
Barcelona’s next Champions League game is Nov. 1 at Manchester City. It plays at Valencia on Saturday in the Spanish league.
