ROSELLE, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors in New Jersey are accusing a Marine Corps recruiter of trying to lure children while inappropriately touching himself.

Police have charged 27-year-old Sgt. Wade Phillips with sexual assault and child endangerment.

Authorities say Phillips was in a government vehicle on Oct. 5 when they say he passed three children in Roselle, turned around and parked. They say he called to the two 11-year-old girls and 10-year-old boy while touching himself. The children walked to their school and reported the incident.

Police are investigating whether Phillips was involved in at least five similar incidents in recent weeks in Roselle and Roselle Park.

Phillips is held on $125,000 bail. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
